Ma Tulsi 🌱

Krishna Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) a sacred variety with dark purple - green leaves & sharper peppery, clove aroma.

One of the most auspicious plants in Hindu culture is the growing of Tulsi in your courtyard. Ma Tulsi, “Mother of all plants” is truly the Goddess of devotional healing energy of love and care. She holds a central place in Indian households, symbolises an earthly manifestation of the Goddess Lakshmi and often kept alongside her beloved Lord Vishnu 🙏

My childhood memories of KP house, India running around the garden with Ma Tulsi beautifully planted on a raised pedestal marble floored area. Every morning I would see the diya & agarbattis lit on the Tulsi plant. Mostly I ran upto get a few leaves each day, and loved chewing on them. Sure enough my school attendance was exceptional back then. Never had a sick day !

Fast forwarding 45 years, I have tried to grow Tulsi but without much luck. It’s cold here in the UK with sunlight n warm weather being much of a challenge. Yet, I’ve seen so many grow a beautiful Tulsi plants and wondered. My inspiration Meghna, she has always been blessed with Tulsi growing at her house.

So once again researched and giving it a try... My Krishna Tulsi plant just arrived this morning and carefully planted it in the Oom container. For the benefits of Ma Tulsi is immense and truly worth persuading. And in a way it would be reliving those beautiful memories of my childhood 🙂
